Pediacyn™ Hydrogel in a 45g spray bottle is a silicone-based Atopic Dermatitis Management Hydrogel, formulated with the patented Microcyn® Technology which has a significant advantage in the management of Atopic Dermatitis during the dry and wet phase.
What is the Itch–Scratch cycle?
In many atopic dermatitis there is a strong itching sensation with an impulsive need to scratch to relieve the itch. Scratching gives a pain sensation to the skin which eliminates the itching.
Sometimes, the person is not aware he or she is scratching the affected area as it is extremely difficult to resist scratching. Unfortunately scratching stimulates itching, itching evokes scratching which stimulates more itching and more scratching and …………. – “The Itch Scratch Cycle”.
The more the person scratches, the more intense the itch becomes. This can be unavoidable and after continuous scratching the skin will tear and become damaged. Once this has happened, there is a route for bacteria to settle in the skin and cause inflammation and infection.
The essential components of Pediacyn™ Hydrogel are Hypochlorous Acid (HOCL) and Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCL). These ingredients, present in very low quantities and are naturally produced in the body as a defensive agent and as part of our immune system.
Microcyn® Technology has been used for many years to treat various acute and chronic wounds and has been shown to be very effective in the healing process without any side effects.
Pediacyn™ is odourless, transparent, breathable and lightweight. It is suitable for all ages and skin types, including children and those with sensitive skin.
